Jiri-San

This is the beautiful home in the traditional style - which is called a Hanok.  Ryan arranged for us to stay there while in the Jiri-San National Park.  It is gorgeous and has the sliding walls with rice paper - but is very modern inside.  The floors are heated and we slept on top of thin mattresses on the floor.  We could not find our way in the dark to this place, so we stopped at a local restaurant to ask for directions.  The  people there called the owners and asked them to come to meet us - which they did!  We followed their car to reach this place and did not get a good look until the next morning.  The owner brought us eggs, ramen noodles, an Asian pear, and a fabulous dried persimmon so that we could make breakfast.

We drove around the mountains - lots of fog made for a beautiful sight.   Below Ryan is taking a photo of Mike and I on a small footbridge across the river - it was pretty hairy with missing boards.  It looked more sturdy than it felt when we got out on it.

And then we stopped to tour the Museum of Green Tea.

Bowl of Rice Wine
On our trip to Busan we stopped in a very small village to eat.  A crab soup that was boiling - video is on the home page - and this big pot of a milky rice wine  Makgeolli - which was very tasty.
